You're the Apple of My Pie Fall Card

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great first week of November. Of course I'm still in the Fall mood so I thought I'd play with my Simon Says Stamp November card kit. It has the cutest little sentiments. I had this idea of a hot apple pie sitting on a kitchen window and thought I'd see if I could recreate it in card form. Here's what I came up with:

So I fought a little bit with this card construction but I think it turned out close to what I had envisioned. I started with a piece of cream card stock. I used a brick embossing folder to give a wall texture to the front of the card. Next, I die cut the window twice from white card stock and did some ink blending with distress ink to give it some depth and dimension. I needed two, one for the inside and one for the outside. I used a rectangle die to cut out a space on the card front where my window would go. I adhered some acetate to the back of one of the windows and then applied that to the front of the card.

For the inside, I had a little boo boo and got some brown ink on the card. To help hide this I decided to rub more distress ink on the embossed area to give the inside wall a bit a color. It actually worked and differentiated the inside wall from the outside wall. A happy little accident! I then attached the second window so it seamlessly fit with the front window.

For my "scene" I choose some patterned paper to mimic wall paper and added a strip of kraft card stock for the counter. I also put a little strip of yellow paper to act as a border. I stamped the pie and apple images on Copic friendly paper and colored them with my Copics. I then fussy cut the images and used a black brush tip marker to ensure there wasn't any white edges. The apple was adhered with some liquid glue and I used a piece of foam tape to pop up the pie. Lastly, I added some Sprinkled Sugar stickles to the top of the pie to give it a more realistic texture.

I wasn't sure how I was going to incorporate the sentiment. My window looked a bit bare without anything on the top portion of the wall paper so I decided to try the sentiment on a banner. It was exactly what I needed to finish off the scene. I also liked how there was just a hint of the sentiment when looking through the front window. Here's a close up of the inside:

I felt that the front was still missing something. This is fall afterall! So I grabbed a little leaf punch and four different colors of card stock. I wanted it to look like the fall leaves were just cascading down the house and into a little pile under the window sill. Once I had glued them all on I took my clear Wink of Stella glitter pen and gave them all a little shimmer. I think it ended up being a really fun card! I like the little peek of the house scene you get through the front of the card.

I'm entering this card into a couple of challenges: The Paper Players - "Let Us Give Thanks" and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - "Thanks/Thanksgiving." Be sure to check out all of the Thanksgiving inspiration on both blogs. I just love getting inspired by such creative crafters! Have a wonderful weekend! Until next time!
