Bellarific Friday - Sketch Challenge

Hello Crafters! Today I'm sharing my card for the latest Bellarific Friday challenge. We were given the fun MojoBella Sketch below. At first I was a little bit stumped but after pulling out some of the new Stamping Bella stamps, I had the idea to turn the adorable THE WALRUS, THE POLAR BEAR, AND THE PENGUIN STUFFIES stamp into a selfie.

I had recently watched a video from Amy Rysavy at Prairie Paper & Ink where she used colored pencils on gray cardstock. I was inspired by that technique and thought that it would work well with the color palette for this winter card. I started by stamping the image in Simon Says Stamp Intense black ink onto a piece of Simon Says Stamp Fog cardstock. I pulled out my Prismacolor pencils and colored up the image. I applied the color in the areas that I wanted darkness then used my blending stump and Gamsol to blend out the color. I haven't used my pencils in a long time so it was nice to play with them again.

For the arctic sky, I scribbled purple, blue and green pencils randomly then blended them out with the Gamsol. I added snow with a gelly roll white pen and then covered the area with Wink of Stella clear glitter pen. I cut the image down to fit the inside of the Lawn Fawn Say Cheese Again die cut. After adhering it, I stamped the sentiment on the frame and attached a little blue heart. I used several different papers from the Doodlebug Frosty Friends paper pack to create the background. I then attached the photo frame popping it up with foam tape. For the finishing touches, I added a few Doodlebug Lily White Sprinkles.

Here's a closer look at some of the little details:

Be sure to check out the Stamping Bella blog to see how the other Bellas used this sketch. I always love seeing how each person interprets the sketch. So much inspiration! Bellarific Friday - MojoBella Sktech

Hello Crafters! Happy Bellarific Friday on Sunday! It's been a busy week and I'm finally able to sit down and blog this adorable card featuring one of the Stamping Bella stamps from the Fall release called SQUIDGY WITCHY TRICK OR TREATER. Isn't she just the cutest? This week we were challenged with a nice sketch from MojoBella. Here's my take on the sketch:

I stamped the image using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink onto X-Press It Blending card. I selected my colors by using the Doodlebug Paper pack called October 31st. I love the mix of lime greens, purples and teals in that pack. After coloring up the little witch, I die cut the image with a standard Square die. I decided to add accents of Firefly Green stickles to her hair, Gold Stickles to the buckle on her hat and orange stickles to the eyes & inside of the pumpkin. She needed a little more sparkle so I coated her dress with Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen.

Here's the Copic colors I used. (The two yellow missing labels are Y38 & Y35)

Before I started coloring, I selected the 5 different pattern papers I was going to use from two Halloween Doodlebug paper pads: October 31st and Boos & Brews. I cut a stitched square that was just a tad lager than my image from plaid paper. For the for other squares, I used My Favorite Things Mod Square die. I love these dies as they have two rounded corners and two standard corners. It provides so many different looks based on how you turn the squares. The rectangle one is pretty neat too!

I lined up the 4 background squares and adhered them to a slate gray card base. I applied foam tape to the center panel and popped it up on the card. For the sentiment, I used one from the Stamping Bella Fall Sentiment set. I stamped it in versamark clear ink onto a piece of black cardstock. I then used Ranger purple embossing powder and heat set it. I decided to cut the sentiment apart and stagger them on the left hand side of the image panel. To finish it off, I added a few enamel dots in corresponding colors.

Here's a closer look including that wonderful shine from the Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen. It's always hard to capture but I got it this time!

Next week's Bellarific Challenge is to use CIRCLES. It can be with dies, punches, images, etc. Use your imagination and have fun! I hope you all have a fantastic week! Be back soon!

Bellarific Friday Sketch Challenge

Happy Friday Crafters! It's been a somewhat stressful week here in Florida with Hurricane Irma on her way. I'm glad to switch focus for a few minutes and share a funky little card for this week's Bellarific Friday Challenge. We were given the fantastic Mojo Bella sketch below as inspiration. I love the Tiny Townie Garden Girls and I wanted to use the Orchid girl in a unexpected way. I googled Orchids and found the gorgeous orange, pink and yellow one below. I didn't realize they came in such bright and unique color combos so I knew I had to use this one as inspiration!

I just can't put away my Copic markers! Maybe next week I'll try... So I grabbed a piece of X-Press It blending paper and stamped the image in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink. Using the photo as a guide, I chose colors that matched and did my best to recreate the design of the flower. It was definitely a challenge and if I had to color it again there are some things I would change.

I decided to just go with the flow and try not to pick apart every little fault I saw. I wanted to make her "dress" a bit more special so I pulled out some Stickles in yellow, orange, and pink and applied them originally in detail spots but then I got carried away and just about covered the entire dress, lol! What can I say? I'm addicted to sparkle!

I set aside the image so that the Stickles could completely dry and focused on creating the background. I really like the stacked squares in the sketch so I turned to my patterned paper stash and selected bright papers that matched the orchid. I cut the yellow paper using my paper trimmer and the white piece using a stitched rectangle die. I then pulled out my new favorite dies, the MFT Mod Square Stax to add a bit more interest to the corner squares.

I had originally arranged the pieces on a plain black card base but it didn't feel special enough. I looked through my background stamps and decided to use the MFT Etched Tribal Stamp. I prepped the black card base using the EK Success Powder Tool since I was using so much embossing powder. This tool ensures that the embossing powder only sticks to the ink. I stamped the image in Versamark clear sticky ink, covered it with clear embossing powder and set it with my heat gun. I just love the subtle detail this tone on tone trick supplies.

After assembling the card base, I turned my focus back to the image. I fussy cut the image, leaving a small white border around it. I then mounted her to the card base using foam tape. I really like how she didn't completely fit inside the frame. It made her look like she's popping off the card. To finish it off, I grabbed a few black enamel dots and that was it!

Here's a closer look at all that Stickles sparkle! In real life you can tell that the glitter is different colors. It really enhances the Copic coloring.

Be sure to check out the Stamping Bella blog and see how the rest of the Design Team used the sketch as inspiration. I love using sketches and it's neat to see how others interpret them. Next week's Bellarific Friday challenge is one of my favorites - Create Your Own Background. You can use stamps, papers, embossing, dies, and more! Just get creative and join in the fun!

To all of those in Florida that are also facing Irma, I send you positive vibes. Florida Strong! See you next time!

Bellarific Friday Sketch Challenge

Hello Crafters! I hope everyone has had a wonderful week. It's been a bit overcast and rainy here in Florida so I decided for this week's Bellarific Friday challenge I'd bring in some sunshine with a bright yellow palette. This week's challenge was the fantastic MojoBella sketch below and I decided to play with the adorable Tiny Townie Garden Girls Daffodil. She's so sassy and fun!

I started this card by stamping my image in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink onto a piece of X-Press It Blending Card. This is my go to combo for coloring with Copic Markers. This was a simple image to color and it used a limit number of Copics. To make it pop a bit more, I pulled out a couple Spica glitter pens and used the dot technique to add shimmer and texture to the shadow areas. It actually looks like her dress could be covered in sequins in real life. The camera just can't pick that detail up. Here's a look at the colors I used.

After completing the image, I used a stitched rectangle die to cut it down to size. I next focused on the card panel. I grabbed a piece of bright yellow cardstock that I had in my stash and cut it to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 which is the exact size of an A2 card. I then used a double stitched circle die positioned on the corner of the yellow cardstock. I ran this through my Big Shot and because it was a double stitched die, it left the stitching detail on the negative piece which is what I was using. I then decided on a patterned piece of cardstock, cut and adhered it my card base. I applied foam tape to the back of my yellow piece and adhered it to the card base. Now I had a fun peek-a-boo window and some neat dimension to my card.

I next adhered my image piece to the card base matching the sketch in the challenge. I had to use both foam tape and tape runner since a portion of the image is over the window area. For the sentiment, I wanted something that was vertical so I chose to go with a simple "THX" using a few die cut letters. I cut them out on a scrap piece of X-Press It blending card and grabbed the same green Copics I used in the image to color an ombre on each letter. I like creating my own colored cardstock like this when I need something to match perfectly to an image. It's quick and easy. I adhered those into place, again using a mix of foam tape and tape runner. For the final touches, I covered each letter in Clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen and glued on a few little yellow sequins.

Here's a close up view of the card and you can almost see the sparkle those Spica pens add to her dress!

Bellarific Friday - Mojo Bella Sketch Challenge

Hello Crafters! It's another Bellarific Friday (on Saturday) for you today! This week's challenge was a fantastic MojoBella sketch below. When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to create a shaker window for the center circle.  I also wanted to finally use the adorable UNICORN SENTIMENT SET. For anyone who knows me, they know that unicorns are my spirit animal. I believe I own every type of unicorn stamp set out there and this one is one of my favs!

Here's a peek at what the card looks like all shook up!

To start my card, I stamped the Unicorn in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink onto a piece of X-Press It blending card. I then grabbed some Copic markers and did some very simple coloring. I selected my colors by matching them to a new paper pack I bought from Echo Park called Perfect Princess. After the image was colored, I fussy cut around it leaving a narrow white outline. Save yourself from doing this by getting the coordinating "Cut It Out" die for this image! Here are the Copic colors I used for the little unicorn:

Next, I started constructing my shaker circle. I taped together two stitched circle dies to create the frame and cut it from a piece of coordinating purple cardstock. I then used the larger of the two circle dies to cut a piece of acetate and my backer piece. I adhered the acetate circle onto the back of the purple frame. I then grabbed my roll of foam tape and applied two layers of foam to the back to create the shaker well. I selected various iridescent sequins and confetti and sprinkled them in the well. Once I was happy with the amount, I adhered the patterned backer piece to seal the shaker window. I wanted to add a little more sparkle to the window so I die cut a neat star frame from a piece of silver glitter paper and adhered it to the front of the purple frame.

I next focused on my card background. To match the sketch, I selected two papers from the Echo Park Perfect Princess pack, trimmed them down to size and adhered them to my A2 card base. I then adhered my shaker window to the base. I noticed I didn't really have the best location for my little unicorn, so I decided to cut some clouds and arranged them so that my unicorn would have a better place to stand. I glued some of the clouds flat and popped up some with foam tape. I really like how this addition made the card come to life.

I knew I wanted to use this great sentiment and I played around with placement but ultimately I thought it would fit perfectly on the cloud. Since I had already adhered the cloud into place and I didn't want to risk messing up the stamping, I decided to stamp it onto a piece of vellum and then adhere that on top of the cloud. I stamped it in versamark clear ink and used silver embossing powder to create the shiny look. It matched perfectly with the other silverish accents I used on the card.

Now what's a unicorn without a little sparkle? For the finishing touches, I applied Stickles to her mane and tail, coated her entire body with Spectrum Noir clear sparkle and added glossy accents to her horn. I also scattered some star sequins to the clouds just to add that final magic touch. Here's a closer look at all of the sparkle and shine:

Bellarific Friday - Sketch Challenge

Happy Bellarific Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. It's definitely been a long one and I'm so looking forward to having a weekend to play in my craft room. This week's challenge over on the Stamping Bella blog was to use the following MojoBella sketch and below is what I came up with.

I just love the Stamping Bella new release and I knew I had to color up this adorable stamp called Tropical Squidgies. What's neat about this set is that you get three stamps: the sentiment and the image in two different sizes. How cool is that? I used the smaller size to fit the sketch. I stamped it onto a piece of X-Press It blending card with Simon Says Stamp Intense black ink. I then grabbed a myriad of Copics to bring the little squidgies to life. Here's a snap of the colors I chose:

After coloring the image, I cut the piece down to fit the sketch. I was really inspired by a new paper pack I bought from Pebbles Inc. called Sunshiny Days. It has these beautiful tropical colors and prints and went perfectly with the Tropical Squidgies. I cut three different designs into sizes that fit with the sketch. I then layered them up and adhered them together. I grabbed a piece of pink grosgrain ribbon that matched the flower and tied it around the entire card. I taped it down and then adhered the entire piece onto A2 size white card base. My finishing touches were some enamel dots and a little bit of glossy accents on the girls sunglasses. Here's a little close up of the details:

Be sure to check out the Stamping Bella blog to see what the rest of the BellaBabes created using this fun sketch. Also, if you would like to participate in Bellariffic Fridays for a chance to be entered into a monthly drawing to win some Bella Bucks click on the link below for more details.

Next week's Bellariffic Friday challenge is to use a Stamping Bella "CUT IT OUT" die on your card or simply ANY DIE OR PUNCH you are inspired to use. I hope you join along and create something with us! Have a wonderful weekend and I'll be back soon!
