Where to Find Owl Be Crafty:

Love is in the Air!

Happy Friday everyone!

I'm so excited for the weekend to come because I received my order from Papertrey Ink yesterday and my Stampin' Up order today! I got a ton of punches and some beautiful stamps from both places so I can not wait to get crafting tomorrow! In the meantime, I wanted to share some Valentine cards.

"Simple Love"

The sparkly heart ribbon was the inspiration for this card. I used a square window punch card that I found at Michaels in the $1 bin for my base. I used my handy ribbon punch to create the slots on the side of the card where I weaved the ribbon. I then lined the inside of the card with red card stock to cover the back of the ribbon weave and to provide a pop of color on the front. The center heart was cut on my Cricut from a scrap piece of glitter card stock. To finish the card, I added little rhinestone embellishments and voila, a super easy Valentine's card.

"Sea-eeled With A Kiss"

This idea sprung from the stamp sentiment "Sea-eeled with a Kiss." I love the Create-A-Critter cartridge and for Christmas I had gotten the Peachy Keen Critter Faces stamp set so this was the perfect opportunity to try them out together. To embellish the seal, I added some little dots with a white gel pen and used Inkssentials Enamel Accents in black on his nose to make it shiny.

Next, I set four eyelets and looped some bakers twine through them leaving room for my sentiment. This was my last frustrating experience with setting eyelets the old fashion way. The next day I went out and bought a Crop-A-Dile which is a must have tool for paper crafters. Finally no more banging!

To finish my card, I stamped a kiss on the seal's cheek and heat embossed it with red embossing powder.

Here's a close-up:

"Whoooo's Your Valentine?"

I am so excited to finally share an owl card! I started with a basic pink card and layered some pattern paper over cream card stock. I then took some punches to the papers to give them a little more pizazz. I cut the branches on my Cricut and inked the edges with some brown ink for dimension. Up next were the owls which were created with my Stampin' Up! owl punch. If you love owls then you absolutely must own this punch. It's also surprisingly versatile. You can create reindeer, ghosts, turkeys and so much more!

Anywho, the little heart is from a $1 holiday stamp set I got at Michaels and I heat embossed it with this fun glitter powder from Recollections called Blaze. It's a brilliant red color with gold glitter, very appropriate for Valentine projects. I picked a fun sentiment from the "You're a Hoot" stamp set and embossed it in the same color. I really loved how this card turned out. It definitely gets me in the romantic spirit of Valentine's Day!

I hope you enjoyed these "Love"-ly cards! Until next time!
