Wild Birthday Card

Happy Thursday! For today's post I'm excited to use some products from awesome fairly new stamp company called The Ton. Their stamps are so unique and "couture" as they say in their tag line. I also love the sassy sentiments they include. The first set I purchased was Sketchy Menagerie. I just love the whimsy of it. I was inspired by the sentiment "It's your day get a little WILD." I just pictured these fun colorful animals on a wall and attempted to make them come to life.

I started by stamping all of the animal heads on some Copic friendly paper. I chose bright Copic color combinations for each animal so they'd really pop against a black and white scheme. I wanted them to be the focus of the card. After coloring, I fussy cut each image. Let me just tell you how challenging those little deer antlers were! Since my cutting was not perfect, I took a black brush pen and touched up all of the edges. This just makes the shapes look seamless and clean.

For the layout, I was inspired by the Sunday Stamp Sketch below. I thought this would really provide a nice frame and highlight the little animals. I settled on a fun black and white chevron paper from my stash for my "wallpaper." I played around with the order of the animals. I wanted to make sure it look balanced. Once that was set, I broke out some black foam squares to pop up each little critter. I did have to cut some very small pieces for the antlers. What a challenge!

Before adhering them, I remember I needed that sentiment. I masked the word "wild" so that I could heat emboss the first half of the sentiment in white. I then masked that part off and embossed the word "wild" in gold. I really like the way it turned out. Once that was all done, I adhered my little animals. For the finishing touch, I grabbed my clear Wink of Stella pen and gave each animal a bit of sparkle. Here's a close up of the card:

I am joining the Sunday Stamp Sketch challenge this week. Be sure to check out the other cards crafters came up with. I will definitely be utilizing this layout again. So clean and simple.
